طالب مجلس الأمن الدولي، مساء الجمعة، السلطات العراقية بإجراء تحقيقات بشأن أعمال العنف والقمع التي يتعرض لها المتظاهرون في البلاد.
وقال المجلس في بيان: “أعرب أعضاء مجلس الأمن عن قلقهم البالغ إزاء مقتل متظاهرين، وكذلك بشأن عمليات القتل والتشويه والاعتقالات التعسفية للمتظاهرين العزل”.
وأعرب المجلس عن “قلقه حيال تورط جماعات مسلحة في عمليات التكيل و قتل واستهداف المتظاهرين” في العراق، مطالبا السلطات بالتحقيق.
ويشهد العراق احتجاجات منذ حوالي شهرين للمطالبة بتحسين الأوضاع و الخدمات وتوفير فرص عمل وتعديل الدستور، وإقرار قانون جديد للانتخابات ينهي هيمنة الكتل السياسية الكبيرة على البرلمان.
