Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL), an international peace NGO, received the Global Peace NGO Award at an event held by the International Peace Mission Conference (IPMC) at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) in Colombo to mark the International Day of Peace. More than 300 religious leaders, diplomats, academics, political figures and peace activists attended.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to the organi<\/span>z<\/span>ers, the award recogni<\/span>z<\/span>es HWPL\u2019s contribution to global peace, international cooperation and a culture of peace.<\/span><\/p>\n

At the same event, IPMC conferred \u201cSama Sri,\u201d a lifetime honorary title meaning \u201cPeace Advocate,\u201d on HWPL Chairman Man Hee Lee. Chairman Lee was also named in the TOP 100 of IPMC\u2019s Global Peace Awards 2026 and received its International Global Award.<\/span><\/p>\n

Former Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena presented the Sama Sri title. <\/span>Chanaka<\/span> Suranga, <\/span>c<\/span>hief <\/span>b<\/span>ranch <\/span>m<\/span>anager of HWPL Sri Lanka, received it on Chairman Lee\u2019s behalf.<\/span><\/p>\n

In Sri Lanka, HWPL volunteers cleaned the streets of Kandy after the Kandy Esala Perahera, a Buddhist festival, in August 2025. On February <\/span>4, <\/span>2026, HWPL and the International Peace Youth Group (IPYG) held Independence Day tree<\/span>planting events in Moratuwa (Colombo), Minipe\u2013Hasalaka (Kandy) and Jaffna, with more than 350 citizens, youth and local officials taking <\/span>part.<\/span><\/p>\n

Among the distinguished guests were Vijay Kumar Raut, <\/span>a<\/span>mbassador of Nepal to Sri Lanka; Ven. <\/span>Badalkumbure<\/span>Sujatha Nanda, <\/span>c<\/span>hairman of <\/span>Sarasavi<\/span>Global Village; and Prof. Preethi Kulathunga of Shakyasinghe University \/ Royal High Campus and <\/span>c<\/span>ouncillor<\/span> of IPMC.<\/span><\/p>\n

Other attendees included D.M.C. Nalaka Dissanayake, <\/span>s<\/span>enior <\/span>e<\/span>xecutive <\/span>s<\/span>ecretary for <\/span>p<\/span>arliament <\/span>a<\/span>ffairs; Thusitha Kumara Adikari, <\/span>d<\/span>irector of Shakyasinghe University \/ Royal High Campus and IPMC; and Subash <\/span>Subawickrama<\/span>, <\/span>d<\/span>irector of the International Human Rights Commission. A former <\/span>c<\/span>ommander of the Sri Lanka Navy, senior Sri Lanka <\/span>p<\/span>olice officials, representatives of peace organi<\/span>z<\/span>ations, university students and members of civil society were also present.<\/span><\/p>\n

HWPL carries out peace education, interfaith dialogue and cooperation with youth and civil society to promote a culture of peace.<\/span><\/p>\n
